Nokia Internet Tablet - N810 (part 1)
On Wednessday, 17th October, Nokia introduced the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet !

The readers following this blog know allready a lot about the ideas behind and functionalities of 'Internet Tablets'. For those who doesn't know anything about it, just check out my previous postings about the Nokia Internet Tablet N800 and 770.
So what's new, what are the important differences between the N810 and N800, what has been kept the same, ...
What's new:
* slider with integrated qwerty keyboard (it's not yet confirmed if - for the Belgian market - an azerty keyboard will become available for the N810)
* integrated built-in GPS receiver (the maps are available for free for download, it you need also 'voice guidance' you will need to buy an extra license from 'Wayfinder', Wayfinder Navigator Nokia N810 Edition. The price for the license will be around 98 EUR.)
* the ambient light sensor (to tune the brightness of your screen)
* internal storage up to 2GB internal memory
* bluetooth headsetThe most important differences:
* a smaller device compared with the N800 (72 x 128 x 14 mm for the N810 versus 75 x 144 x 13 (/18) mm for the N800)
* a completely integrated camera compared with the N800
* support for compatible miniSD or microSD memory card up to 8GB (with extender) for the N810. The N800 was supporting two internal memory card slots, compatible with SD, MicroSD, MiniSD, MMC, and RS-MMC.
* the new OS2008 which includes a lot of improvements, bug fixes. The important and good news is that the OS2008 is also compatible with the N800 Internet Tablet.
* Nokia Battery BP-4L versus BP-5LWhat has been kept the same:
* high-resolution 4.13” WVGA display (800 x 480 pixels) with up to 65,000 colors
* the processor type: TI OMAP 2420, 400Mhz
* RAM memory: DDR RAM 128MB
* Flash memory: 256MB
* integrated desk stand

Conclusion (based on the information available currently, so I don't have the N810 yet !): both, the N810 and N800 will run the same software OS2008, but, the N810 has a keyboard slider and built-in GPS, and last but not least is a little bit smaller in size !
For those who are interested in this device, you have to wait until it's available for sale in the online Nokia shop, on www.nseries.com, somewhere mid November 2007. The price of the N810 will be 479 USD (excluding local taxes), no price in EUR available yet. Or checkout the Nokia Europe site on http://europe.nokia.com/A4568578 .
