Nokia Internet Tablet - 770 (Part 5)
As I mentioned earlier, in my posting 'Nokia 770 (Part 4)' VNC is an efficient utility to get remote access. In the previous example, I used the Nokia 770 as a VNC Viewer utility, this time it's the other way around. I installed a VNC Server on the Nokia 770 so I could remotely control the 770 from other PCs, Windows, Linux, it doesn't matter.
Is this usefull ? Yes, when you are planning to type a lot on the 770, for example when preparing some bash scripts, in stead of buying an expensive bluetooth keyboard, now I can just use the VNC server application on the 770, and the VNC viewer on your pc or laptop.

This was one the questions I had, what about a keyboard. So it does exist, but as I understand at a high cost.
I guess it's possible, but can you connect external USB devices? I have a small 60 Gbyte HD (3,5 inch). They would make a perfect fit.
What's the startup time of the Nokia 770?
Referring to a later post of you, I also believe the Origami of MS will not break a lot of records, too expensive and limited functionality.

Indeed, there are already a number of keyboards (wireless based on bluetooth) available for the Nokia 770. The prices for the bluetooth keyboards are between 100 and 150 EUR, depending on the brand type (an example, http://www.nokia.be/uk/phones/enhancements/su-8w/index.html).
From my point of view, those keyboards are really usefull / necessary for people on the road (without the possibility to access their laptop) who have to do some major text input for example. As far as I see, I am not going to carry an extra bluetooth keyboard when going to the city center for example ;-).
But you made a good remark, it can be usefull for some people. And for people that can really benefit from this, the 100 EUR isn't a big issue.
Tom, according to my knowledge, it's not possible to attach an external USB harddisk. Again, the question we have to ask ourselves, how are we going to use the Nokia 770 ? But this is a complete topic we have to address in a separate posting.
Your last question, about the Nokia 770 startup times. I have very good news about this, ... the boot proces (from scratch) takes about 45 seconds, but in fact, I seldom boot from scratch, since you just can put the 770 in a kind of sleep modus. It awakes in just 2 seconds. And yes, the battery quality is great, even when putting it into sleep modus all the time.
Cheers, Jan
