Fosdem 2006

Today, Saturday 25th of February, I went together with Jeroen towards Fosdem 2006, the 'Free and Open source Software Developers European Meeting' in Brussels.

It was the first time we went to a Fosdem meeting, so we didn't know what to expect.
My conclusion, after spending about 4 hours at Fosdem, is, that it wasn't what I expected. I expected a lot more representations of open source projects, a lot more gadgets to buy (still looking for my first Debian Mug! ), a smoother interaction / better communication between users and developers, ... I expected to learn more during such meetings.
I think this kind of meetings is especially usefull for people already involved in the developers community of the different open source projects, it's a chance for them to meet each other, to have a face2face contact with people they only know from email, mailinglist discussions, etc.
Anyhow, I finally have one, for my daugther Martine (when she's a little bit older), ... see picture below.
