b2evolution upgrade
Tonight I have done a significant upgrade of the b2evolution blog software, from version 1.10.3 (2007-11-01) alias "Key West", currently in status stable/old towards version 2.4.1 (2008-03-16) alias "Nevada", currently the first 2.x version in status stable.
The b2evolution 2.x versions come with a brand new backoffice design, come with enhanced configuration options, come with lots of bug fixes & improvements, ...
By the way, from the 1st of May 2008, the 1.10.x branch will not be further maintained !
In fact, I was well prepared. In stead of jumping directly into the water, I performed a complete migration cycle in advance on a 'test' environment. The test environment was setup using VMware server, in which I installed the currently beta version of Ubuntu Linux 8.04. Besides the fact that this process reflects some kind of 'professional behaviour' it results in 'confidence' and 'maturity', isn't it ;-).
For those interested, both VMware server and Ubuntu Linux are free.
