i got stuck on * Unpack the downloaded driver to a location on your harddisk can u explain it more?

That was very helpful. Unpack means to right click on it and hopefully there is something that says extract or extract to. That's what I did and it worked great. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the steps. Just what i was looking for.
Trying to figure out how the software/drivers functions...didnt know they could be used to regulate the power supplied to a USB port.
Unless the message, "not enough power" is just a ruse.
The blackberry site has another method...using the CD, in the Custom Installation mode.
Sorry, am unable to post the URL. You can search for - "Install the USB drivers for the BlackBerry Handheld Manager or BlackBerry Device Manager"

THANK YOU! Your instructions were easy to fallow and to the point.
There are other instuctions on line that leave you asking "huh?"

Again, thank you.

Very nice and handy tool. Easy to install. My charge cable for my BB was always at the wrong place. USB cables are a lot easier to borrow....
Thank you for sharing this!

This didn't work for me, but I updated the driver through windows and that worked for me.

Sadly "install driver" means nothing when all that's provided is a *.inf file and there is not any device called "Blackberry" in the Device Manager. I right-clicked on the inf file and clicked "install", but it did nothing. Oh, well.

When BB is connected to the PC...an error msg use to pop up on my BB that BB is not connected to powered USB or correct USB driver is not installed. Some funny things were also happening... (1) BB was showing charging sign without actually charging the device (2)Device Manager on the PC did not show any error on USB Controller tab and just was showing USB Mass Storage Device connected properly.

I went ahead and updated the driver of that mass Storage Device with the unpacked drivers which I downloaded (As suggested above). I then connected BB and all is resolved... USB Controller tab under Device Manager List would show Blackberry Device instead usual Mass Storage Device.

Hope this info will help someone.

Cheers!

I've followed the instructions, but am having trouble at the step "Install the downloaded driver, follow the instructions on your screen" I have downloaded the file and extracted it - there are three files, but I cna't see how to run the download - there are no instructions on screen whichever of the three files I try to open.

Using the driver specified and the method of manually updating the USB Mass Storage Device worked on Windows 7 for me. None of the blackberry packages will even install, but this driver did.

The important part is to not let vista search for the driver but manually specify the driver and use the "Have Disk" button.

Don't try this if you have IE 6. The site is completely broken, at least for this unlucky IE user.

Hope this helps those who are getting stuck halfway through the instructions,
from the MS download site it will prompt you to save the download somewhere. Just make a temporary folder on your desktop, you will save a folder called "Research In Motion driver update for BlackBerry Device" inside will be a file called something like X86-ar_zh-tw_cs_da_de_el_en_es_fi_fr_he_hu_it_ja_ko_nl_no_pl_pt-br_ru_sv_tr_zh-cn_pt-13456806_3951c7b8446f3bd279e5f518d94b552dc1f40101.cab, double click that cab file and extract the 3 files back into your temporary folder, you will get RimUsb, rimusbnt and RimUsbNT, RimUsbNT should look like a notepad page with a cog on it, right click this file and select instal. There is no fan fair, but when you plug in the blackberry it will now charge. If you want to be tidy delete the tempory folder and you are done. Cheers
